Castle Mauterndorf, which was built in the 13th century, once served as a toll station for travelers and traders. It was also the summer residence of the Salzburg prince archbishops. Today, the castle in Salzburg's Lungau region is a popular excursion destination for the whole family. Because the motto here is: "Experience the Middle Ages up close"! For example, when you meet the prince archbishop himself or slip into a knight's armor on a castle tour, for which there is a special children's audio guide. Always great fun: the adventures of the little juggler Xaver Wuschelkowsky, the colourful vacation program or a real medieval party with everything that goes with it!
The large knights' playground is also a real highlight for kids. Here, youngsters can conquer a real "castle within a castle", as the playground is integrated into the medieval walls and courtyards. Tip: The exhibitions within the castle walls are also exciting and lots of fun for children.

Children have their own way of learning and discovering. That's why Castle Mauterndorf has its own children's audio guide. This turns a castle tour into an exciting journey back in time to the Middle Ages: get to know the inhabitants of the castle. Become damsels and knights in the wardrobe and take part in the preparations for a big feast where you can meet the archbishop "in person"! The children's audio guides are available in German, English, Italian, French, Spanish, Dutch, Czech, Hungarian and Russian.
